WAXING FAQS
PRE
To have the best results, your hair should be a minimum of ¼ inch {equivalent to a grain of rice.} The growing out phase can be annoying; however, it is crucial for a flawless, smooth result.
If your hair is too short, the wax will not properly adhere and will be quite painful. For this reason, the appointment will be rescheduled until there is an adequate amount of growth.
It is best for you to avoid shaving as well as trimming 2-3 weeks prior to your scheduled appointment. The longer the better!
We strongly recommend if you have never been waxed and are preparing for a vacation, to visit at least once (4-6 weeks prior) to see if you have any adverse reactions and again 2-3 days before your trip!
Exfoliation is KEY! This will help to get rid of any dead skin build up and lift any trapped hairs from under the skin. The day or night before your scheduled service, use an exfoliating glove, dry brush or scrub to the area/areas, then apply an oil-free moisturizer.
DURING
We recommend and highly encourage you to wear loose fitted clothing the day of your appointment. This may also help to avoid further irritation to the skin afterwards.
Consuming alcohol or caffeine the day of your appointment will increase sensitivity thus making your experience more painful than needed. Instead take an ibuprofen 30–40 minutes prior.
Aftercare information as well as product recommendations will be discussed during/after your service and an information card will be provided for you to take home.
POST
It is vital to exfoliate afterwards to further prevent ingrown hairs/discoloration from ingrown hairs.
You should continue to wear clean/loose fitted clothing. Breathable and natural fibered material such as cotton or linen is preferred, in doing so will help prevent further irritation of the skin.
Avoid touching the area as you may be sensitive, this will also help prevent any infection.
Avoid sexual activity for at least 24 hours (applies only to the below the belt services).
Stay away from sunbathing, tanning beds, as well as spray tans for at least 48 hours.
No hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs or hot showers. If you would like to shower, please use lukewarm or cool water for at least 24-48 hours.
Refrain from intense sweaty workouts for at least 24 hours.
Do not shave or use depilatory creams in-between waxing appointments.
Schedule your next appointment within 4-6 weeks for optimal results.
SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
Generally, it is considered safe to wax while you’re pregnant no matter how far along you are, but always consult with your physician first. Your body is going through a lot of changes during this time so be aware that you’re more than likely to produce hair at a faster rate and in areas you least expect. Swelling, increased sensitivity as well as bleeding are common and normal.
Getting waxed during your menstrual cycle is a personal choice. If you do choose to get serviced (Bikini/Brazilian) wear a tampon or use a menstrual cup. Since your body may experience inflammation just prior to or during the first few days of your period, waxing during this time may mean more discomfort during the service and bruising may occur.
